What's the difference between single-line spacing and double-line spacing?
What's the difference between single-line spacing and double-line spacing?
Updated over 4 months ago

Single and double-line spacing refer to the amount of space between lines of text in a document. Your assignment instructions will usually specify which spacing to use.

Single-Line Spacing:

In a single-spaced document, the lines are close together with just enough space for the characters.

Double-Line Spacing:

A double-spaced document has twice the amount of space between lines compared to single-line spacing.

Word Count:

  • 1 double-spaced page = 275 words

  • 1 single-spaced page = 550 words

Note: If your instructions ask for full-printed pages, the word count per page may be slightly higher. Since we count pages by the number of words, 275 words may not always fill one full-printed page. If you need full-printed pages, consider adding extra words.

Common Questions

Why does the word count differ between single and double spacing?

The word count varies because double spacing adds more space between lines, so fewer words fit on a page compared to single spacing.

What if I need 1.5 line spacing?

We don’t offer 1.5 line spacing directly in the order form because it's not commonly used. But no worries! Place your order with the required word count and select any available line spacing option. Then, add a note in the order description that you need 1.5 spacing.
